The Jouve Group is designing and developing the website www.ifverso.com for the INSTITUT FRANÇAIS. This new cultural and collaborative platform can be accessed universally free-of-charge and includes a business and public section.

IF VERSO: THE WEB 2.0 PLATFORM FOR TRANSLATED BOOKS

IF Verso is a database compiled in partnership with the BnF and UNESCO that includes over 70,000 books translated from French into around forty languages. It is also a collaborative and interactive social network for literary officers in the French cultural network and French and foreign businesses.

Digital technology is a priority for the Institut français, the new global French cultural operator. ‘The digital revolution has profoundly and permanently changed methods of disseminating culture and the ways it is used. As part of its remit to promote French culture, the Institut français is obliged to adopt these technologies and harness them to increase its influence.’ Xavier Darcos, President of the Institut français.

Since it was set up on 1 January 2011, the Institut français has focused its digital strategy on promoting French influence throughout the world and providing a center of pooled resources for the cultural network (101 Instituts français around the world and approximately 400 Alliances Françaises subsidized by the French Foreign Ministry). Like its new website, which went live in March 2012, the Institut français digital offering is aimed at the public, business, cultural operators, and members of the cultural diplomacy network. The website is a tool for promoting the Institut français brand and, moreover, a portal providing access to the various Institut français digital platforms for culture, films, books, the arts, and French language. It also provides a space for people to share and circulate information and content and is a center for resources.
